Pre Season Endurance Running with the Ball – Round the Back is another brilliant drill to increase players fitness and it’s all done with the ball.

This can be used with the similar Drill : Pre Season Endurance Running with the Ball – Round the Back

Encouraging strong running and close control over long distance this is one that will hit your players hard in the last legs.

Driven on by their teammates support, this drill will really help build their fitness and conditioning as well as endurance through tough times in games when it’s hard work.

By combing the 2 drills back to back all of a sudden you have a fantastic work out that is REALLY going to test them,

Pre Season Endurance Running with the Ball – Round the Back – How it Works

Whatever age group you coach, you need to be using the right sized pitch.

Mark out a square at either end a couple of yards in from each touchline.

2 players start at one end, one with the ball and one at the other end.

Players run one at a time with the ball, when they get to the other end ( not further than 6 yards away ) they play a pass to the player in the box who controls and waits.

The Passer then runs around the back of the box and picks up a pass from the player on the other side before continuing their run.

Each player will do 5 widths of the pitch and on the final pass the next player will take over.

This is a fitness drill so you are looking for strong running from your players. No slacking.

Control. Being in a control of the ball during the run is key

Quality of passes. From all players, they must be switched on. Passes should be to feet and there should be no mis-control.
